A Call To Arms

Recently it was announced that Choco Taco is being discontinued.

For those of you that are not aware of what a Choco Taco is, let me tell you that it is one of the most divine ice cream desserts.

It makes hot summer evenings complete.

A Choco Taco is a disk of waffle cone filed with vanilla ice cream and topped with fudge, peanuts and chocolate coating.

The chocolate coating holds the ice cream in the taco as you eat it. That way you get the full flavor explosion in every bite—cone, topping, and ice cream. It is much better than a regular cone, where you first eat just ice cream and then get stuck with a dry cone.

The fact that this unique taste treat is being discontinued is a national disaster.

This is exactly why we have a Congress. They should be holding hearings on this immediately. It is truly a bipartisan issue if there is one these days.

Think about it. The company that makes Choco Tacos is Klondike which is owned by Unilever—a foreign corporation headquartered in London. Why aren’t the Republicans protecting us from this foreign domination of our taste alternatives? Further, the reason given for discontinuing the Choco Taco is due to “sharp increases in demand across its brands and to ensure the availability of its products”. Sounds like fattening up Unilever’s profit margin to me. On the backs of the American consumer. Where are the Democrats?

If Congress can’t tackle this outrage and protect the American consumer, there is only one alternative…President Biden needs to invoke the Defense Production Act and direct American companies to start producing Choco Tacos before the existing supply runs out.
